Crystal Yayra Anthony (b. 1997) is a self-taught Ghanaian artist based in Accra. Through nude portrayals, her art challenges colonial-influenced notions of decency. Inspired by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's work, she reclaims African heritage. Using stylized finger painting in Amoako Boafo's studio, she empowers her "misfit" subjects, creating a dialogue of empathy. Anthony's portraits prompt introspection, urging viewers to feel before they judge, bridging gaps, and celebrating authenticity. Her art is a bold exploration of vulnerability, dismantling barriers, and fostering connections in a world marked by history.
